As a curious child, forest inclined and wistful I always liked elaborate dressing and play
I’ve been fortunate enough to keep a healthy dose of that as a grown up, still favouring a tutu worn with puddle jumping gumboots.
With a natural affinity for playing and enquiry, the opening of my magical dress up shop, in early May 2021, seems the most natural thing in the world.
The old world charm of the recently vacated Trentham Post Office, with its’ substantial post office bench and quirky features, lends itself to something imaginative.
With a burgeoning tourist trade, and a local community, made up of talented artisans, makers and creatives, it seems a perfect match. With Covid restrictions easing, people seem keen for adventure and entertainment and I’m eager to oblige.
I’m looking forward to seeing people’s faces as they come in to this ever changing, ever developing space, part enchanted loungeroom, part installation.
It will feature a range of dress up hire options, costume-making, workshops, a retail selection (vintage clothing, books and other eclectica) and storytelling projects involving the marvellous post boxes.
Most of all it’s designed as a place of playfulness, joy and imagination. And I think we all need a bit of that.
I look forward to welcoming you to The Story Costumer.
